The Scenic Rim is Brisbane's backyard and is largely undiscovered. Here's a shortlist of things to do and see
Surrounded by the Great Dividing Range there are some amazing walks ranging from short 1/2 hour easy to gruelling all day adventures. Mt Cordeaux for example offers a relatively easy 2 1/2 hour walk which takes you to the very top of the range with 360 degree views. The walk itself takes you through a variety of vegetation, sub-tropical rainforest, then temperate forest and then opens out to an area of bald rock at the summit. The view is well worth the effort.
Visit the locals
Boonah, Kalbar, Harrisville and Aratula offer a range of local pubs, cafes and history. Boonah is steeped in history and retains much of the essence of a small country town.
Maynards Drapery in the main street is a living relic of days gone by offering quality merchandise of all descriptions. A pair of RM boots, dress patterns and material, moleskins, jeans, hats are all available. It is well worth a visit just for a chat with the staff to learn about their history.
